database misc. renaming, deleting etc.

Post by jchampoux »

I have just recently decided to do a little database cleanup, instead of having separate databases for each school subject, I have consolidated all of my refs into one master db and used static groups to delineate them.

what can I do safely and how do i do it:
rename my master database (from "history" to "school")--or do i need to export/import into a new db named "master?
delete my previous databases and their backups and rebuilt versions-- I have scads of db files in all of the usual places and would like to prune

is there any maintenance that I should do to my master , other than verify?

Hi,

You don't have to do anything (Verify is of course a good idea). You can also do a Clear Menu n the Open -> Recent Databases so you won't see the old names of your databases.

Consolidating into one master database is a good idea.

Sure, rename as you like.

Maybe it will snow for Christmas...
