Hello,

Thanks for all the replies and for the interesting discussion. I would like to explain myself, hopefully, better. I'll try to do it with screen pictures I have taken, and I hope they would be accessible easily.

My problem is described as follows:
I have a temporary citation in my Hebrew text as follows:
http://cl.ly/2H30311w2o1f291M0M2v
One can observe that there is an Hebrew part and an English part here. My wish is to turn all the citation into Hebrew.
When I scan the Mellel file I get this result:
http://cl.ly/400Y1J473V0A050b1F3z
And of course, I get the whole reference in the bibliography, which is OK for me, temporarily.
I am changing the temporary citation manually as it is shown here:
http://cl.ly/3i1y3J2R0K2r3R0M1336
And the outcome is here:
http://cl.ly/0n311W2z3E2b0F3A3N0J

And this is exactly what I am looking for.

Now my question:
Here is my format manager for this bibliography entrance:
http://cl.ly/082s0t453H3E3l1w0d0d

So: what should I change in the format manager:

http://cl.ly/203f320C3i0W2K0V3t3D

To get in the temporary citation in Mellel this outcome:
http://cl.ly/3i1y3J2R0K2r3R0M1336
and of course this:
http://cl.ly/0n311W2z3E2b0F3A3N0J

It was long, so forgive me, but I hope I was clear this time. I am looking for assistance in what element in the codes of the Formats Manger, I should adjust.

TIA

The forum software allows you to do so.

When you post a reply your will find this:
upload_image.png
upload_image.png (45.22 KiB) Viewed 13770 times
Click on Upload attachment—you will have to scroll or click on the above screenshot to see where it is— and load up! When the image is on the server you will find the option to place the image inline (at the position of your cursor in the reply text box) which is recommended.

You might consider to edit your last posting and include your screenshots this way, it will be way easier to read.

You invested a lot of time into providing us with all these screenshots – and it does make helping you easier indeed.

First, one tip regarding getting the screenshots displayed directly in your posts:
In the posting interface of this forum, there is a tab called "Upload attachment", which you can use for this purpose. (Somehow the screenshots that should be below this paragraph is being moved down to the position of the next screenshot and the last screenshot lands at the end of the post…
(Here is the place where the first screenshot should appear, but only an error message is shown, so please look at the image further down.)
The attachment Screen Shot 2011-08-17 at 17.22.41.png is no longer available
After selecting the screenshot (via "Choose File"), you have to click the "Add the file" button to upload the screenshot. You can then click the "Place inline" button to put a link to the image into your message – you can move this link to wherever you would like to display the image.

Now regarding your request: It seems that you try to manipulate the wrong format. You are changing the formatting for whatever goes into the bibliography, not for what goes into the citation.

If you want to change the way a citation is displayed, then you have to change the citation subformat, not the main format. As you can see for the APA 6th Edition format, the subformat is referenced in the main format, under "Citation Options".
(The second image should be actually be here)

Screen Shot 2011-08-17 at 17.22.41.png (31.82 KiB) Viewed 13768 times
You then have to go into the referenced subformat, in this case APA 6th Citations. There, you can change the contents of the Primary Order field to you liking.
(and the third and last image here)

I am not familiar at all with right to left styles, so I don't really know in which order you’d have to put things, but a solution could look like this:

d ,a

Hope this helps!

PS: Jon, perhaps it would limit user confusion if subformats that are called by other formats are somehow highlighted differently? Perhaps by making their name grey instead of black, or by using italics, or by adding a star at the beginning or end of the name (the star could then be a clickable link to the main format…). This might reduce confusion of the uninitiated ;)

Hello,

My problem is described as follows:
I have a temporary citation in my Hebrew text as follows:

Apparently, I can't put more than three attachments, so I'll open one more reply.

Hello,

My first attempt to add screenshot was not very clear, and I am continueing here, with hopr that the rest would be more legible.

Now my question:

So: what should I change in the Formats Manager:
Screen shot 2011-08-16 at 23.41.17.png
Screen shot 2011-08-16 at 23.41.17.png (34.05 KiB) Viewed 13768 times

Screen shot 2011-08-16 at 23.41.17.png (34.05 KiB) Viewed 13768 times
To get in the temporary citation in Mellel this outcome:
Screen shot 2011-08-16 at 23.41.17.png
Screen shot 2011-08-16 at 23.41.17.png (34.05 KiB) Viewed 13768 times
and of course this final result:
Screen shot 2011-08-16 at 23.41.17.png
Screen shot 2011-08-16 at 23.41.17.png (34.05 KiB) Viewed 13768 times

I am sorry for the confusion of presenting the screenshot.
I still hope to be able to receive the appropriate instructions as to what should I change in the Formats Manager codes to get the hebrew results in the outcome in Mellel.

TIA

Raymond, have you seen the stuff that I posted in my first reply? That should answer your question, or at least I think it could. Have you tried this?

Good luck!

Ozean,
I was not clear enough. The codes attributions to be changed is not in where you have proposed, since the problem is not in the way the bibligraphical list is presented, but the way how citations are presented in Mellel, I have tried to follow your proposal and here is what I got, and this is not what I am looking for:
Screen shot 2011-08-17 at 21.27.40.png
Screen shot 2011-08-17 at 21.27.40.png (213.93 KiB) Viewed 13764 times
I will present here the way I am trying to work and how it presented:

And I wish that Bookens will give this possibility, and the change is in the Formats manager where the scondary order is presented and I want to place there the possibility that instead of the words: 'et al'
there will the words in Hebrew :'ואחרים'.

Ah, I didn’t get the et al. part. You can change this setting in the appropriate subformat under Citation Options in the following way:
Screen Shot 2011-08-17 at 20.48.40.png
Screen Shot 2011-08-17 at 20.48.40.png (45.11 KiB) Viewed 13764 times
Hope this helps!

Ozean, I'm staying out of this and hate to poke my nose in, but since you guys are trying to help...this format is to be used for temporary citations, not final citations. Therefore any changes should be in the Bibliography tab, since those are the settings that will control the formatted ref.

Thanks Ozean,
It works, but it gave me in Mellel the following situation:
Screen shot 2011-08-18 at 00.03.43.png
Screen shot 2011-08-18 at 00.03.43.png (10.48 KiB) Viewed 13762 times
There is no space between the name of the writer and the word ואחרים
How shall I generate this space in the configuration.

I have difficulties in understanding Jon, so please Ozean, can you explain me what he is trying to tell us. What should I do?

TIA

The solution is very easy, but also easy to overlook: just add a space before or after the mellel ואחרים in the Citation Options window :)
