Why are you changing the font size in the reference window? While you can have rich text in references it works much better to leave it unstyled and control the size it displays at in the preferences: Bookends>Preferences... General tab. Default fonts section. Choose References in the left-hand dropdown and your preferred typeface and point size on the right.

As nicka, I would also recommend to normalize all your font sizes (and other styles) in the database entries themselves. (At least as long as you don’t need them as such.) This is the command you can use:

As soon as you have done this, you can define the size in your format so that you won't need individual customizations.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

Thank you both nicka and ozean for your help. Both your assistances helped very much. I am glad the changes, or the configurations you showed me.
I wasn't aware of them.
Once again, thank you
Raymond

I am coming back to my problem, after applying the advise of nicka and ozean .

I am working on an older text in Mellel which is now in Mellel 3.2.2, and now on BE 12.0.1.
I have a group of references,
Screen Shot 2013-07-09 at 5.22.00 PM.png

and I have tried to create a bibliography out of them. The results are shown in the next screen picture.

One can see that the first reference as seen in the right window is shown in the bibliography in two kinds of fonts size.
I would like that the whole citation would be in the larger font size, and that it would be applied to the rest of the references.

In the preferences the situation is as shown:

I'll appreciate your hep as where to configure what.
TIA

Just a brief guess: to me it looks as if the rest of the bibliography is formatted as superscript (that is, the font size remains the same, but the style is switched to superscript). No real idea why this is happening though…

Does this happen also if you leave out the Kislev et al. citation in the group?

[ deleted : Jon provides instructions below. I've let him know they should be more easily accessible in a FAQ .txt file provided with BE12 demo & easily accessible on the website under BE12 Buy/Download section for testers using BE11 or upgrading and who need to keep using BE11 while awaiting a license. Hopefully that will soon be fixed. ]

Thanks for the warning. As I've written to you, and as mentioned on other threads on this forum, you can of course still use Bookends 11, which is available on our downloads page in case you replaced it. As mentioned in the Read Me, any format you open in 12 is irreversibly converted (there's no way around that, that's the database engine). But Bookends saves a copy of any custom format you have in

~/Library/Application Support/Bookends/Custom Formats Before Bookends 12

So, in a case like yours:

Trash Bookends 12. You can restore the Bookends 11 formats by trashing this file

~/Library/Application Support/Bookends/Installed Version.txt

and launching Bookends 11 again.

Any custom Bookends 11 formats will have been saved in

Custom Formats before Bookends 12

Delete the formats in the Custom Formats folder and move the saved (older) versions back into Custom Formats.

Yes, it continues to appear. My way to change the outcome list in Mellel is to select the whole small font lines, and apply the style I use genrally to the text, and then, the new font size is bigger than the rest of the list, so I then reduce the font size of the former miniature font to the font size of the rest of the bibliography.
No idea why it happens.
