But it is a Finder issue. Bookends isn't even running when you double click on the PDF, right (and if it is running, quit it and try again)? And the Bookends is launched *by the Finder* and told to open the PDF, right? If so, this is not a Bookends problem, Bookends is just responding to an AppleEvent sent by the Finder. If anyone else who reads this sees what you do please add your comments.

I’m away from my computer right now so will check later. But I’m pretty sure it doesn’t matter whether bookends is running - it is always called as the default app for that iCloud folder. Now it could certainly be that the finder is the problem - but then I don’t understand why it is setting bookends this way and why it can’t be changed. And why this is only happening for bookends. I’ll try a few other things when I get home too - like rebooting into safe mode. I’ll cover back to you if anything develops.
