Is it possible to automatically attach the PDF to the Bookends entry at the time of the import?

This is what I'm doing:
1) I search the article
2) I import
3) I click on the URL @ symbol to open the PDF
4) The PDF opens in Safari (in browser)
5) I click the Save icon
6) I go back to BE and go to Ref/Get PDF/Find & Attach

I bet I'm taking 3 or more unnecessary steps...

You can simplify the last part a bit.

If you can get the pdf to open in Preview then you can drag the proxy icon (the one in the title-bar) onto the reference window in Bookends, or onto the list window if the correct reference is highlighted. You will then get the attach file dialogue.

That's right. I'd right-click on the pdf in Safari and select "Open in Preview". Then drag the pdf's proxy icon onto the Bookends window.

Unfortunately the new safari opens PDFs inside the browser and I like that new behavior in some cases.

How exactly do we "reconfigure" the JSTOR filter to work with downloaded pdf's? I have a bunch of files I downloaded before the Bookends upgrade which are waiting to be classified.

If you right-click you'll bring up a contextual menu that lets you open the pdf with Preview.

Sorry, I don't understand. The JSTOR filter doesn't deal with pdfs, just the text. You have to download the pdf the way that aechallu described in the original post.

OK, I thought there would be some metadata in the pdf for Bookends to read.

No, unfortunately publishers don't use the pdf metadata in any consistent or helpful way.

I think from this thread I already know the answer, but just to make sure I'm not getting my hopes up â€” there will not be a "Get PDF from JSTOR" option (like the Pubmed one) right? Or is this something that is being worked on?
