Problems with OS 10.4.8 updater

After I updated to OS X 10.4.8 Bookends refures to run. When I open Bookends, I receive the message, "Can't open format," but it opens the application. The problem is that as soon as I try to do anything, Bookends quits unexpectedly. I'm using a MacBook Pro. Any work around?

Just as additional info: this does not happen on my non-Intel iBook.

It doesn't happen on my Intel iMac, either. I doubt this is related to 10.4.8 (unless others start to report something). I'm dealing with this problem as a tech support issue with Amaru.

I am not seeing this problem on either my MacBook or my dual-proc. G5. I have upgraded both to 10.4.8.
