According to the MLA format, when you have several works by the same author, you are supposed to include the year after the author’s last name:

(Barthes 1978)
(Barthes 1989)

But BE would render both citations as (Barthes). What is the best way to deal with it? Is there anyway to ask BE to include author and date only when there are several works by the same author?

Hi,

No, I don't think so. Bookends doesn't do well with some of the subtleties of MLA. You'd have to edit these situations manually after the scan.
