i can't use find or command-f to search the notes window. i have to cut and paste my notes into something else to search that field. I keep all of my notes from the book in the notes field, if i could just use apple search within that field, it would be very worthwhile for me.

Interesting idea. The interface certainly becomes unwieldy, though. You know that notes are shown in the concise view, right? And if you have words entered in the Live Search textbox, the found word(s) will be highlighligted in red. This may (or may not) be helpful for you.

That is helpful and resolves most of the issue that i was having, command-f find would still be great because then i could just command-f command-g through until i find the quote that i am looking for. some of my notes windows are upwards of 10k words, so find would work better. also the live search box doesn't really respect phrases like osx native find does. when searching for royal science with or without quotes it finds both royal and science and highlights them. But yes, that is a great feature and thanks for pointing it out.

We already to have a "Find in this reference". I may be able to use the same interface for "Find in this note". Let me think about that...
