Suggested improvements to copying selected text

I just noticed that I'm unable to copy text that I've selected in the View Formatted pane. It would be nice to be able to select and copy text from that location, just as I can from the various drawer tabs.
On a related note, I'd expect to be able to right-click on any selected text in the Bookends window and get a contextual menu with Copy. That seems like an increasingly standard feature: if you can select text, it should have a contextual menu with applicable actions such as copy.
(I never rule out that what I'm seeing is just a fluke on my machine, so please do let me know if these features are already integrated.)

You can copy from the formatted pane view (I just did). I don't know why you can't.
As for the contextual menu, that is common in text editing apps. It's not hard to do, I just didn't implement it in Bookends.

Sorry, I should've specified further. I was trying to copy some text (book title) from the middle of the formatted pane view and paste it into Mellel. When I did that, I got nothing - not even blank spaces.
Just now I tried Edit > Paste Special > Plain Text, and the text appeared. I also tried copying some text starting from the first character of that view, and that didn't require pasting plain text. Likewise, starting the selection in the middle and including the last character worked. But starting and ending in the middle didn't work.
Other apps, on the other hand, are accepting my pasted text without any problem. So something is a little screwy somewhere between Bookends and Mellel in terms of the clipboard behavior specifically with text from the formatted pane -- again, at least on my machine, but odd nonetheless. The paste special > plain text is a workaround for me.

I just did that with Mellel and it worked, too (and it should).
Hm, I don't see a Paste Special in Mellel (I see a Copy Special). I'm using Mellel version 2.1, build 7. Check the version you have...

Thanks, Jon. I'm using version 2.1.2. With 2.1.1, the paste special menu was added. These have actually been a nice series of updates -- a 'fit width' autozoom, the much requested fake small caps, etc.

Hi Joe,
I installed the latest Mellel -- copy/paste (Command-V) from the View Formatted pane stil l works for me. I wonder if there is some setting in Mellel that is causing the problem for you?

Interesting. It seems like the bibliography pane in Mellel's preferences would be the most likely culprit, but I checked to make sure that my default style set is the one specified in the bibliography pane, and none of the substitutions are set oddly. This isn't a huge issue, since anything I copy and paste from Bookends into a Mellel document I end up using Paste Plain Text anyway.
Then again, unless others corroborate this issue, it may just be my machine. I do still suffer from the problems we once corresponded about--of Bookends not remembering my window position or View formatted pane size between launches and of not displaying text in the View formatted pane in the font I specify in the preferences. Perhaps it's all related somehow.
Thanks for your help!
