Proxy server require Username and Password

Hi there,
I am pleased to see that the preferences allows me to enter the address and port of my university proxy server, which should make full text articles accessible to me directly from Bookends. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to work very well, as any Pubmed search gives me the following feedback: "There are no matches". The proxy server I’m using successfully with the Firefox browser, requires me to enter a username and password, and I wonder if this could be the reason for the erroneous "no matches" message. Will there be fields for entering username and password in the future, or is there already a way around this?

Thanks,
Nils

Yes, that's probably the problem. I need someone to give me the details of access to an authenticated proxy server so that I can implement this, though. If you want, contact me directly.

You could try this

Squidman http://homepage.mac.com/adg/SquidMan/index.html

as a work around.

Essentially you set up programs to use the squid proxy and it forwards it to your authenticating proxy and supplies the username/password. So any program that doesn't support authenticating proxies will work.
