I used to dump all of my PDFs downloaded off of JSTOR and other humanities sites straight into DEVONthink Pro, and then name them there. I am now putting them in a folder that can be accessed by BE and indexed by DT.

So, I'm having to go through and rename them. However, I'm finding that, despite trying different naming schemes, the Find & Attach Local PDF is just not finding and attaching my PDFs. I thought I remember reading somewhere on here that, if I give each BE reference a Bibtex key (which I have BE do automatically), and name the PDF by that key, it should find it fine. Not working.

So: what is the best way to name a PDF, in order to maximine the find and attach pdf function? What is this function looking for in a name?

The PDF Get from local drive doesn't use the pdf name. It uses Spotlight to find matching content. When it fails, it's simply because Spotlight isn't really that good at finding matches where there are lots of words. I suspect this will improve in Leopard.
