I just imported my 7 database into 8. I noticed that it placed all my ISBN information into a field that is labeled edition rather than the ISBN field. This is strange as the ISBN information was obtained through using reference manager and thus I did not decide which field to store it in. Did I do something wrong when I imported? Will Global change > Move Field move this information from one location to the other (i.e., will not leave the ISBN information in the Edition field)?

Bookends 7 did not have an ISBN field, and did not have User3 and User4. When you import to Bookends 8 the User2 field (which you used for ISBN) does not automatically go to ISBN. The Global Move should work in this case (do it after backing up, of course).
