Change fonts (silly question :)

As the subject says this question is a bit silly, in that it's not of pressing importance, and yet it's annoying nevertheless so I'll ask it: When I change what font the references display in, some fields where I must have pasted rich text instead of plain text, don't change (i.e, they are stuck in a particular font and font size). I can cut cut and paste out to a text editor (and back) and get it back in a "changeable" font, but I was wondering if there was any easier way to do this? Thanks.

Not silly at all. In fact, serious enough that we have a solution.

Global Change -> Restore Default Font Style

Apply to the whole db or just the Hits List.

Also, note that there is a menu Edit -> Paste Without Styles

Hi,

Thank you for the useful post and very useful feature. I was puzzling over this myself. I have one slight problem, however. When I restore the default font, it seems to also delete all the italics in the fields (non-roman words that are italicized in an otherwise unitalicized journal article title, etc.). Is there any way to restore the font and size, without changing the italics.

I also note that changing the font settings does not seem to apply to the fonts for words supplied by Bookends (ed. etc., in the editor field).

Kindest regards,
Shayne

I'm afraid not. It's all or nothing.

Words provided by Bookends in a bibliography are output in the default font, if I'm not mistaken. Or at least I think they are supposed to be.

I only noticed this when I changed the default font to a legible size 24 pt or so. But I do not think this works. Perhaps it is a bug.

It is an oversight -- if you use the $ symbol to surround "quoted" text the font is set to the default bibliography font. I neglected to implement this when the ` was added as a means of quoting text. I've fixed that, and it will be in 8.0.2.

Thanks for pointing this out.

Hi Jon,

Thanks for your reply. It seems to me that it is not only the font but--and in fact perhaps only--the associated font size. Everything else appears in 24 pt, except the text in $$ (ed., etc.). This made me think that the font wasn't controlled, but it is probably only the font size.

Kindest regards,
Shayne

Ah, yes, I see that. The font size does carry through for quote text, but not the regular format instructions. It should be consistent and do so for neither, obeying the bibliography default settings. Thanks for the correction.
