dates

Post by code_slave »

Hi guys,

can you 'fix' the dates, so any date fields in the references, can be made to conform to a pre-defined format.

At the moment you can type fairly much anything into a date field, which makes spelling mistakes common.

Then can you add a system to take the date field , and render it in a user defined format.
I.E
DD/MM/YY
DD/MMM/YY
DD/MMM/YYYY

or
YYYY/MM/DD

Not really. For many people reference information is imported, not entered from the keyboard, and there are far too many ways to represent dates for Bookends to enforce a few.

On more or less this subject, it would be nice to have a menu command that inserts the date in Bookends format (yyyy-mm-dd).
The current one (Refs>Insert Date) respects the system preference date setting, which is good, but not what is needed for filling in date fields in Bookends if you want to sort on them.

The new one could use the existing keyboard shortcut plus option: Command-Option-Shift-t.
