Hello,

I am starting to use Bookends and learning it.
I have a short paper in Mellel having already all references in the footnotes, and i want to bring-import these references into Bookends.

Is there a way to do it and not on a manual one by one references.

TIA

Raymond

Probably not. It is possible, on occasion, to import existing bibliographies into Bookends by making a filter. But the references must be in an exact format so that Bookends can parse them, and it often isn't very satisfactory. There is a section in the User Guide on this…search for "existing" and you'll find it.

My guess is that you'll have to type them in again (or find them online, such as the Library of Congress, and import them).

Thanks Jon,

Another step in my endeavours.
I can't paste here screen pictures here so I'll describe what I get:
In a document in Mellel I have 20 references-citations and I have
entered them manually into Bookends database.
All the citations in my document are in the form of: {Raymond, 2000}.

When hitting the Scan the document at mellel I got the first screen
picture:

Error: Can't get format definition!

And then, when clicking OK I got the second screen picture:

Verifying Citations
Looking for:
Stop

To which, in order to get rid of it, I need to quit Bookends completely.(is it a Bug???)

I am on the last version of Mellel. I look for a help.

TIA
Raymond

Hi,

I replied to this via tech support, but if anyone else is reading...

I can only think that you removed the Bookends app from the folder it is in, so it can't find any formats. Redownload Bookends if you must, but make sure the folder we provide is intact.
