I keep getting the "reply is empty!" error message each time I attempt a web search of pubmed.

I have used many common terms which I know should be returning something.

Any suggestions anyone?

(have mac os x 10.3.9, bookends 9.2 and am on a company network I know nothing about)

You should upgrade to 9.2.2, which is compatible with recent changes made in PubMed.
