Problems using Harvard Format Citations for British Standard

Just wondering if anyone can help?

Within the dissertation I'm working on, I've references to various British Standards BS6079:2000 etc.

I've set up a Reference Type for National Standards. When compiling a bibliography to meet the Leeds Metropolitan University interpretation of the Harvard format.

However within the text, all I get is:

(Institution, 2000)

Whereas what I want is:

(British Standards Institution, 2000)

this is per the entry in the author field.

Can anyone help fix this to get the latter??

My university have very strict policy on referencing and don't want to loose marks :!:

The reference within the Bibliography is spot on :)

Thanks,

Hi,

What is actually entered in the authors field for that reference? And are you using an author-date setting in the format, or is it a custom citation format?

Hi Jon,

The author field for the reference has:

British Standards Institution

This body is the authority in the UK who issue national standards. So to truncate as you would for a book author " Bloggs, Steve" to (Bloggs, 2007) as a citation within the text isn't correct for a document issued by an authority such as British Standards, or for a International Standard (ISO) document.

I'm using Author & Date within the 'Bib & Citation Options", and sort by author as this is required by the UNiversity.

If I use Custom Format, and the "Harvard LMU" format I created, the citation is just exactly the same as the Reference in the Bibliography.

I guess the solution is to get the author field to be displayed at the citation within the text, without it becoming truncated to the last word (in this case "institution".

Is it possible to do this, for this type the "National Standard" reference type I've created?

I'm sure many people will have come across this problem before

Did you try adding a comma after the name? This is how institutional names should be entered:

British Standards Institution,
