Greetings - I use Chicago 15th A as my format, and I am trying to figure out how to add a dictionary entry (from a theological dictionary). The format code really confuses me, but I'm wondering if I simply need to create one myself or if I can tweak another one to suit my needs.
Also, how could you add a section for "Associate editors"? Thanks.
Dictionary entry and Assoc. editors?
Hi,
I suggest you go to Preferences and create a new Type, Dictionary.
Then create a new format (have Chicago 15th selected when you click on the New button) and name it Chicago 15th Modified (or something like that). Then select the Type (from the popup menu) that seems closes to what you want (e.g. Book, perhaps), then make a new Type. Set it to Dictionary. Tweak it as necessary.
You can rename any of the user-defined fields (in Preferences) to "Assoc Ed" (or whatever) and use that. You can rename it for just the new Dictionary Type, or for all Types.

jbarrett,
Double-check with CMS; if you're using a couple of entries of a well-known dictionary in your field, you don't need to cite it, you just mention the entry in the text. I experienced a similar problem a couple of months ago and was happy to find that unless you're doing an in-depth analysis of the dictionary itself, the citation is simple.
