typographic quotes in formats

Jon, I just realized that when I use one of the formats delivered with Bookends (like Chicago or Oxford Author-Date) the quotes are not typographically correct. I.e. Instead of

Code: Select all

Adey, Peter. "Secured and Sorted Mobilities: Examples From the Airport." Surveillance and Society 1, no. 4 (2004): 500-19.
the output should be

Code: Select all

Adey, Peter. “Secured and Sorted Mobilities: Examples From the Airport.â€

When I first read this, I thought you meant the following (which would be great from my point of few).

If you have straight quotes in a reference then the format could define in which way the quotes are output (as it is possible in Mellel's preferences):
„“
“â€

Hi ozean, of course you can simply change the quotes in the format as you like. Would others like that, or would they prefer sticking with standard quotes for the defaults we ship?

Even better than my suggestion of yesterday of course would be if the cooperation with Mellel could be improved so that not Bookends but Mellel regulates the use of the quotes.

Just insert straight quotes in your references (which is only necessary very seldom of course) and then in the bibliography (and citations) in Mellel the Mellel setting of typographical quotes is used automatically. But this would be a feature request on Mellel's side and is the wrong place to be discussed here.
