issue number in journal article gets doubled

I have not input data into Bookends for 2-3 months. Today I noticed that when I input a new journal that includes volume & issue that the issue number gets repeated in the citation. (This does not happen with the old citations already input.) Strangely enough, one "issue number" has no formatting, and the other has italic formatting!
I'm using Bookends 10.1.2
Is this a known bug, or is there something I can do to correct this issue?

Hi,
It's not a bug at all. In your format make sure you turn OFF "Include issue # with vol" (second tab).

The "include issue # with vol" IS turned off. When it's "on" then everything has the double issue problem. When off, only my new entries display the double issue problem.

Check what's in the volume field (make sure there's no double entry). If you can't figure it out, contact me directly for tech support.

Nope, no double entry. I've just sent a post through the support page.

For those following this thread, the problem turned out to be that there were spurious null characters (zeros) entered into the Abstract field of the affected references. Removing them (with Zap Gremlins, in TextWrangler) fixed the problem.

Hi Jon, I have a related question (or maybe a feature request).
If I remember it correctly, we can only turn off the "include issue number" function if the reference type is "journal article."
I deal with many Asian language references, and I create special types for them to make formatting easier. (So, for example, I have reference types called "Book," "Book CJK," "Article," "Article CJK" etc.)
This means that the issue numbers of all my CJK articles get repeated. Is it possible to disable the "include issue number" function for reference types other than "journal articles"? That would save me from lots of trouble trying to manually correct my Asian language citations.

Hi,
Bookends will honor the "include issue number with" setting for any type called "magazine" OR containing the word "article". So if you don't want it used with CJK articles, rename the type something like "CJK Art.", "CJK Piece", or whatever you prefer.

Thanks, Jon. It now works great!
