I made some changes to the import filter and now when copying references from a search into a list, all the fields are empty save for the time stamp and text (I mapped these to the notes field to keep a record of my search). Initially quitting and restarting got the reference to show up properly. But now everything is blank, even after reindexing. I also noticed an old problem re-occur: list view and reference were not matched up. This time reindexing did not solve the problem.

Another question: some names with diacritics are not displaying properly. Any way to rectify this?
