Citations with same author multiple years

This was discussed back in September, but I'm still having problems with it. I have multiple works by the same author in the same year, and need to add a, b, c, etc. to both the citation and the bibliography. The bibliography uses a custom format, which is Author. Date. "Title..." -- so date has to be e.g. 2003a, 2003b, 2003c. Do I have to add the a, b, etc. to the date myself or can Bookends do this? I checked "Letters for repeated years (2006a,b)" in the Bib & Citation Options tab, but it doesn't do anything; I still get just the year in both citation and bib. Is there another switch I'm not seeing? I had thought it did it automatically but now it doesn't. OSX 10.5, Bookends 10.1.3. Thanks!

Hi,

Bookends should do this automatically if two citations in the text are otherwise indistinguishable but point to different references in the same year. This should work for custom citations, too. For the heck of it, try changing from a custom citation to an author-date citation (e.g. Cell). Do you see letters after years now?

This should be followed up directly with emails to support@sonnysoftware.com
