Synch backup?

Hi Jon,

I wonder whether the new sync capability could be used to perform nimble backups. Specifically, my 17Mb + database is too big to upload to .Mac on a daily basis. But that would change if I could put it on the remote server once, and then just synch changes on a daily basis. This would keep the file backed up while drastically reducing upload time. Is it possible? Do you foresee any problems that might arise? Thanks.

Yes, that is possible with synch. Note that .Mac is horribly slow (I don't know why Apple can't get it's act together on this!), but it will work. Don't forget Automatic Backup in Bookends Preferences, which does a Verify before the backup, too.

BTW, I think if you'll rebuild your database you'll shed a few MB...

Jon, thanks for your response. Yes, .Mac it's excruciatingly slow—too slow to consider syncing the database, what a pity... it took like 20 minutes to synch one changed record!

Regarding the 17MB, that's after rebuilding the database, which sometimes goes up to 20MB or so :P .

Again, thanks.
