Scrivener/Mellel/Bookends Problem

I'm wondering if anyone could tell me how to "put the pieces" together, so to speak. I'm writing my project in Scrivener and using BE as I go. I'd like to export to Mellel for final formatting and bibliography scan, but I'm having trouble. I switch over the word processor in BE preferences, but none of my citations are showing up once I open the new Mellel doc. Trying a work-around, I tried to scan my document from within BE, and I chose my Mellel doc. It says I can't because "it can't scan a bundled document." Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thanks everyone.

Export from Scrivener as rtf. Open the rtf with Mellel. The citations will look something like this: {Chomsky, 2001, #47484}. That is, they will be plain text strings in curly brackets.
Go to Edit> Bibliography > Convert text to citations...
This will make the text citations into citation objects.
Then scan in Mellel.
That's it.
You can't scan Mellel documents from inside Bookends when Mellel is not running -- but then why would you? It's much better to be able to scan them in Mellel.

Well, that worked like a champ. Thanks a lot. One follow-up question, though: why does Mellel not have any of my default auto-titles set up when I import? It works if I cut and paste the contents of that document into yet another new doc, but not until then. Any ideas? Okay, thanks for your help.

I think you need to do the following:
1. Make sure that your preferred autotitle set up is saved with its own name. You should do this in a document where you have the autotitles set up how you want them. The save option is in the autotitle dialogue, at the top.
2. Then import an rtf.
3. Then go to the autotitle dialogue and choose the named autotitle set up.
I hope this works.
perfect!
