I've tried citing both in-text and as footnote and can't get a page number to appear correctly. If I cite as a footnote with the SBL format and add the @ and a number, the page number is not preceded by a comma, and doesn't end with a period. Similarly, I couldn't get this to work with the in-text either. The Title ends with a period, not a comma, then the page number appears.
How do I achieve the desired out put without having to Option+DoubleClick and manually edit each citation? If you manually change, and later rescan, you lose all of the manual changes.

Citation: (the { } are hidden in Mellel)
LastName, 1992, #91310@15

Formatted (footnote):
LastName, Titlel.15 (note the undesired period before the page number).

Desired: (Author, Title, 15.)
LastName, Title, 15.

Update:
Ok, it seems that to get the page format correctly, I need to manually at the comma and the end period: @, 15. which gives me Author, Title, 15.

You probably have to edit the SBL format to tell it how to handle cited pages the way you want (second tab). Perhaps Danny Zacharias, who created and maintains the SBL format, might have more specific suggestions.

Simple mistake. When you are scanning your paper you should be scanning using SBL bib, NOT SBL footnotes.

You see, the SBL bib format creates your bibliography - then it goes to format your footnotes. At that point, the SBL bib format uses the SBL footnote format. Think of it as kind of master/slave scenerio. The SBL footnote format is slave to the SBL bib format, which is the one you actually choose when scanning your paper.
