The next release of Bookends will scan documents created with Apple Pages '08. A time-limited public beta is now available for downloading. The major new feature is Pages compatibility, so if you don't use Pages don't bother with the beta (wait for the final release to get some other more minor additions and bug fixes).
A small Read Me in the download has useful information about scanning Pages documents.
If you try the beta with Pages I'd appreciate hearing your experiences, especially if they're good ones! :-)
The beta can be downloaded here:

Pages '08-compatible Bookends 10.2 public beta
Hi jon,
Been trying out the public beta and in general it is quite nice! There are a few things though - some of which I am pretty sure can't be resolved, but I am going to mention them anyway:
1. Documents scan very nicely (better than Word in fact!), but cannot be unscanned
2. Bibliography is pasted in nice as long as the (bibliography) tag is added - however journal-specific requirements like the use of italics, etc. is not obeyed.
3. Bug: Integration with Mellel is broken..... Scan/unscan gives you weird things!
Overall, it is really nice to see the ability to scan .pages documents, although a full integration (cooooome on Apple - wake up!) would be required before I would use the two together over Mellel/Word.
Btw - man Office 2008 is crap!
Cheers
Kristian

Right. Pages has no provision for retaining hidden text like Word does.
That's not right. Make sure your format specifies italics -- they will be pasted in.Bibliography is pasted in nice as long as the (bibliography) tag is added - however journal-specific requirements like the use of italics, etc. is not obeyed.
Hm, thanks, I'll take a look.Bug: Integration with Mellel is broken..... Scan/unscan gives you weird things!

Thanks for the feedback.
