JSTOR has been updated, and it seems that BE's current importer for it is no longer working. Is this updateable? thanks.

Perhaps you could talk to the good people at Mekentosj, the makers of Papers. They have a JSTOR importer in the pipes for the soon to be released 1.8, so they might be able to help you with the information you need.
Best of luck!

I think they're in the same boat. I've been in touch with the JSTOR tech support people , and they told me the problem is with the JSTOR gateway.

The good news is that JSTOR tech support is responding again, and there seem to be a number of known bugs on their end that are preventing the search from working. There are some workarounds we're exploring, and I'll upload a revised version of Bookends as soon as they are working.

Bookends 10.2 has been updated (April 15, 2008) to handle the new JSTOR SRU gateway. If you are trying to use JSTOR and it's not working, please download Bookends again (there is also a new JSTOR import filter in the Import Filters folder). The version number is still 10.2, and the new code will of course be included when 10.2.1 is rolled out.

Thanks, Jon. I'm a new user of Bookends; and I'm quite impressed with your quick resolution of the JSTOR problem.
Best,

I have download 10.2 and installed twice. I have installed the (two ?) updated JSTOR import filters, but still from non of their exported citation formats can I get the import from clipboard to work in BE with either of the JSTOR filters. I had to export as EndNote, and import as a file (slower, but at this point effective).
Below is from JSTOR's menu. I selected Reference Manager which produced an .ris file. I opened with TextWrangler, copied the elements, and then tried o import with BE with the clipboard function. So to confirm, this feature is still not working, correct? Just want to make sure I don't post this as a "new" issue if it's already being addressed.
Select one option:
Email citations
BibTeX (This will open in a new browser window. Click Save As on the new browser's File menu, and save as text file.)
RefWorks
EndNote, ProCite, Reference Manager

Hi,
This has nothing to do with the JSTOR gateway direct search issue that this thread is concerned with.
You are using a browser to access JSTOR. We have a filter called JSTOR from browser which is for importing the files downloaded from JSTOR. Did you try that? If you did and you still can't import the reference, please contact me directly for tech support.

Please forgive my ignorance.
I haven't used BE for a JSTOR search before, but this exchange made me want to do so.
I presume that this is a form of Online Search, like those I've done many times using University libraries. (And I'm hoping that maybe I'll be able to download PDFs along with the reference. ??)
Even after downloading BE again today as well as the (new, I think) import filter, I get nothing but "There are no matches" even when I know there are.
I can only think I've gotten something fundamental wrong here. Any idea what?
Thanks

Hi,
I'm getting no matches now, too. Since this was working, it means either (1) their gateway server is down, or (2) they've fiddled with the protocol some more and the changes I made are no longer valid. JSTOR is in a state of flux, so I suppose these problems are to be expected.
If the searches aren't working in a few days I'll contact them again and hope for an answer (there are some communication gaps, I'm afraid).

JSTOR is working for me now (April 22), so if it's not for you please make sure you're using the latest build of Bookends 10.2.

Thanks for keeping track of this, Jon.
How late is latest build of Bookends 10.2. ?
I downloaded it this past Friday and JSTOR still doesn't work for me....?
