8.0.3 can't open custom format

Post by Adelheid »

After upgrading, I get an error 'Can't open format! Error: .47'

I use a custom format, placed in Application Support/Bookends/Custom formats. I copied it to the Bookends format-folder, but the error remains.

I have had no problems with the format before, and haven't changed it lately.

Other formats (not custom) do work.

Any thoughts what could be wrong?

For anyone interested in the resolution, the problem was that the format and the database had the same name. Once the name of the format was changed, it worked correctly.

Kind of O/T, but you should change your readme, which reads

-----
2. If you are migrating from 8.0 or 8.0.1: move the folders Custom Formats, Custom Import Filters, and Custom Journal Glossaries to

~/Documents/Bookends/Attachments
-----

That's what I've been doing and for the life of me couldn't get my custom import filters to show up. So it goes in Application Support/Bookends/ eh?

Needless to say, it's workin' now.

Thanks for correcting the typo. Yes, here is how it should read:

If you are migrating from 8.0 or 8.0.1: move the folders Custom Formats, Custom Import Filters, and Custom Journal Glossaries to

~/Library/Application Support/Bookends/
