Keyboard shortcut for Pages '08?

Post by switters »

I'd like to use Pages together with Bookends. I understand that Bookends can scan a Pages '08 file - that's fantastic! But is there a keyboard shortcut to get from Pages to Bookends? Command-Y (which is what works in Mellel) doesn't work. If there isn't one by default, how do I set one up?

Thanks.

Command-Y should work with Pages. You have to tell Pages is either your default word processor (Bookends preferences) or change it in File -> Link To.

Strange. I get the error beep when I use Command-Y in Pages. It is set as the word processor in Bookends, and there is a check mark next to Pages in the File>Link To menu. Is there somewhere it could be overridden?

Thanks for your help.

Whoops, sorry, I misread your original post and thought you were going from Bookends to Pages. Command-Y works with Mellel because Mellel is "Bookends aware" and has been coded to switch. Pages doesn't know about Bookends, and there is no Pages API that lets you add commands to Pages. You could do this with an AppleScript, but that would be more trouble than simply clicking on the Bookends icon in the dock.

Okay, thanks for the clarification. I suppose I can just use the Command-Tab combo to get from Pages to Bookends as well, assuming Bookends was the "last used" application before Pages.
