Wrong ordering of references in scanned document

Post by prop »

Jon,

I have an issue when scanning a document. I have four references together in my master document, with one set of brace brackets {} and four non-ambiguous references in it separated by a semi-colon. The document scans fine, but in the resultant new document, the order of the references is "8-5" instead of "5-8" as superscripts. The references are in the correct order at the end of the document, i.e. #5 really is the one I put in the unscanned document first, but for some reason it is being mis-cited in the document.

Can you please help? I am using Word 2008.

Wow, how strange is that. The document is actually fine on my Mac (5-8), but when I open it on a Windows computer, the order is 8-5. Any thoughts?

Hi, I'm the wrong guy to ask about Windows, but this is obviously a MS Word issue. I wonder if it's due to some setting in Word (along the likes of its autocorrect). Perhaps someone who uses Word for Windows might have some insight.
