newbie needs help-footnotes

I am a newbie to Bookends, long time endnote user
I have had some great (fast too) support from Jon with my issue, but I figured that I would ask the community for some more detailed help.

I would like to format my papers in Chicago 15th A (or Turabian) with footnotes at the bottom of each page, and a bibliography (no endnote page)
I have a good handle on setting up my formatter, chicago A scan, Chicago A with endnotes for the custom citation scan

My problem is actually getting footnotes to show up on the page.

heres what Ive tried so far, in line with my text I use Word to "insert footnote"--Word inserts a superscript number in line and adds that number to a footnote area at the bottom of the page. In the footnote area I add my temporary citation.

I scan my manuscript, I get a new document with an endnote and a bibliograpy entry and nothing else--blank.
How do I get the scan to produce a properly formatted paper with the footnote in the right place and the bibliography at the end?

If this is a "you must cut and paste into your manuscript" deal, then Im not sure what bookends is actually doing in my favor...can someone help me
Im at my wits end.

If someone could tell me in concise steps how to do what Im trying to do it would be of immense help.

Bookends will replace the temp citation in the footnote with the final citation, no need for pasting anything. Since you're reporting it isn't, something is not set correctly. I suggest you zip and send me your ms and the database so I can take a look at it.

Here is the answer:

When adding a footnote and temporary citation, you must move your insertion point back into the body of the text before scanning. To do this simply move your mouse into the body text and click. If your mouse insertion point is left in the footnote when you scan, a bibliography-only document results.
