Thomson-Reuters sues George Mason U over Zotero

Maker of Endnote sues GMU. http://chronicle.com/wiredcampus/article/?id=3352

Yet another reason not to support them. Netizens have noted that Thomson is concerned more about disrupting competition than actually improving their product to compete.

Hi,

I saw that. It will be interesting to see how this turns out. I can see both sides of this. One the one hand, EN has spent a lot of money creating thousands of formats (styles), and their competitor (in this case Zotero) is benefiting from them without doing the work. On the other, the information in the styles themselves is in the public domain. The lawyers will sort it all out. If George Mason wins the case, I wonder if they'll make the conversion code open source (maybe it already is)? :-)
