Problem with reference type when importing

Hello,
First of all congratulations for this nice application, it seems like it will get the work done easily especially for bibliography formatting when writing. I am a new user and have faced some difficulties though.
I used to organise my scientific database for importing and making groups of references using another application (Papers), but the lack of the "citing while you write" or the bibliography formatting features made me try Bookends. Since I had already all of my references there (more than 1000) and since Papers have a good export command (send to Bookends) I transferred them to a bookends database with no problem at first. But when I wanted to make some smart groups (as I had before) I realized that all of my references at type was set as journal articles while in Papers around 250-300 of them were reviews. This is important for the groups you make when you want for a keyword only reviews to be included.
I searched the forum and I found a post about this subject explaining that when a reference is imported in Bookends with 2 reference types (i.e. article & review) it recognizes and accepts only the first (article). This seems rather logical and when I searched the info for some reviews in Papers I saw that they were enlisted both as journal articles and reviews.
I suppose that this is the problem but I was wondering if there is another easier solution rather than editing manually one by one each reference opening every time the reference window and editing its type while checking with the other application if it's a review.
And also I wanted to know if I have to do this all the time from now on for example when I enter a new reference from Pubmed.
Thank you in regards for your time.
