Feature Request

Post by the_DZA »

Dear Jon et al.

I have mentioned this before, but would it please be possible to change the Online Search window so that Boolean (or 'Advanced') searches work better?

On almost every imaginable occasion for an online search, one needs to input more than one search term, which means using a Boolean search. To do this we currently need to change the search type every single time, wait for the side-panel to pop out (sometimes invisibly off the side of the screen) resize the window, activate the entry-boxes and then enter the terms.

Switching to a different library catalogue requires doing this all over again.

Firstly, can Boolean searches be made as the default option (or at least a choice be given in preferences?)
Secondly, can we do away with the side-panel, and just integrate it into the main window for a neater and quicker experience?

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Daniel

Hi,

Bookends should remember the last search, and if it was boolean the drawer should open automatically.

As for the drawer itself -- that will probably go away (it's been replaced in the list view, and will be replaced in the format window in the next update).

Hi Jon,
Thanks for the reply,

You're right that Bookends remembers the content of the last Boolean search, but it doesn't remember that it was a Boolean search when switching between catalogues. Anyhow, if it's being phased out this won't matter so much.

Best wishes,
Daniel
