I see that the new version is compatible with Pages '09. I've been using Mellel before, but would like to now switch to Pages '09 for various reasons.

I work with several people who review papers with references, and almost all of them use Windows. Is there a workflow that any of you'd recommend by which I can use Bookends with Pages for my bibliography, be able to share documents with them, and if they make changes in the text/references, I'm still able to reincorporate that without loss of data/time? In Mellel, someone was kind enough to create a workflow whereby if we use rtf format, it worked well with Bookends, was able to share it with other folks, and if changes were made in references, Mellel and Bookends were able to work integratively to update these.

Is there such a workflow for Pages '09 and Bookends?

Hi,

Pages reads and writes .doc files. So you can exchange your documents with people using MS Word in Windows without a problem. I when you're ready, scan the document with Bookends.

Thank you for the superprompt response. I was able to test this out, and can confirm that it works quite well. Couple of questions though..

a) What is the bare minimum citation material needed for Bookends to recognize and acknowledge the citation?
For eg: If I have a text that goes:
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet {John et al., 1900, J Am History, 12, 453-66}, consectetur adipiscing elit. Suspendisse ac magna. Aliquam iaculis, diam eu adipiscing egestas, massa magna venenatis tortor, vitae mattis massa arcu eu pede.

do I have to have the entire {John et al., 1900, J Am History, 12, 453-66} or can I just have {John, 1900, J Am History}? Or something even shorter? If possible, how do I do this?

I understand that once properly formatted that it can state:
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet (1), consectetur adipiscing elit.

But for the ease of sharing documents, I'm looking for the bare minimum required material for bookends to acknowledge the citations.

b) Is it possible to unscan Pages documents?

The minimum is the references' unique id, preceded by a #.

You can create a format and use it to create temporary citations if you want. The format would be

`#`@

No, you cannot unscan Pages documents.
