BibTex key

Hi,

I'm working with several articles written in LaTex. I remarked that the authors (not me, I'm new to LaTex) used a logical system to generate keys for refs:

Sutter. 2005 --> Sut05
Sutter and Touati. 2005 --> ST05
Sutter, Moller and Touati ---> SMT05
Sutter, Moller, Kern and Touati ----> SMKT05
Sutter, Moller, Kern, Rich and Touati ----> SMK+05

my question to BibTex users: is this a common notation? If yes, it would be nice to have this system in Bookends...

Hi tom,

You can use any system you like, of course. Bookends has a built-in method as well, if you want to use it:

Sutter 2005 -> Sutter2005

If you have the proper options selection in Preferences, Bookends will ensure keys are unique by appending a lowercase letter, e.t.

Sutter2005a
