Bookends is a great program, but sometimes it is supremely frustrating (like when I spend 30 minutes trying to figure out why some titles are in a different fonttype and size than others). How do I force all citations to use just one font? I don't want *anything* fancy. I just want to know I can enter a citation and not have to worry about the fact that some titles (not all) for some reason display in 14-pt Arial (or what looks like it) while everything else (author, publisher, etc) is 12-pt TNR.
As a corollary, a future release might consider a "dummy mode" where the much deeper features which might confuse the new user are hidden until the user specifically enables them. if this already exists, PLEASE point me to it
This sounds like you have differently formatted entries in your database. This can happen quite easily when you copy and paste info into Bookends (which I do all the time).
You can discard all non-standard formatting by going to the Refs menu > Global Change > Restore Default Font & Style …
To ensure that you won’t get more strange formatting into your database you can then go to Bookends > Preferences. Then selects the Refs tab and set Assign Cmd-V to: Paste Plain Text in the lower right corner of the window.

And although I wouldn't call it a "dummy" feature, there is a setting in Preferences (Scan & Bib tab) where you can check "Default font overrides field settings" that you might want to set (any styles in the references will still come through).
