Date omitted of only one work in bibliography

I have just encountered something new.

The Journal of Religion and Society requires that in text citations omit the date if there is only one work by that author in the bibliography.

I have searched the manual and the forums to no avail. I can exclude everything else but not the date. There has to be some way to do this. Unfortunately, I can't figure it out.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mark

Alternatively, can anyone confirm that this cannot be done and I will just have to do it manually?

Thanks,

Mark

I can't think of any way to have Bookends to *conditionally* omit the date in a citation (that is, as a function of whether the author, or set of authors, has another work previously cited in the document).

Is there a way to add a symbol to the citation that omits the date?

I couldn't find this in the manual.

This might be really rare. I have never encountered it before.

Thanks,

Mark

No (there's omit author, but not omit date). You can, of course, use ! so that the entire citation is not shown (but used in the bibliography) and enter what you want to appear as text, as in

...this is the book I'm citing (Smith){!Smith, 2008, The Title}...

That is what I thought. I will edit those citations manual.

In the future I will favour journals that have bibliographic formats I can produce with Bookends :)

Thanks again,

Mark
