Automatically attach Skim notes

As I annotate PDF files attached to the BE library, Skim automatically saves a text file alongside the annotated PDF. It would be useful if there was an option for BE to automatically attach this note file to the reference the PDF is attached to.

Hi,

You mean it's a separate file in the Finder? If so, I can't think of an obvious or unobtrusive way to automate attaching a separate file. I'd use drag and drop to attach the text to the same reference as the pdf.

Yes, it is a separate file.
AppleScript could have helped here...

This probably won’t help you much and I know that Skim still has things to offer that Preview doesn’t, but if you run Snow Leopard then Preview has improved a lot. Particularly when it comes to highlighting and annotating – and its main advantage is, of course, that you will see all of this even in Bookends…

Thanks, Ozean. I agree that Preview has come along way. What I am seeking are stand-alone notes that can link automatically to a reference. Stand-alone notes offer significant flexibility.

That is true – the ability linking to different kinds of content in different sources is always welcome.

Just to be clear, you can attach and view the independent text file in Bookends now. The OP wanted the text file attached automatically when the pdf was attached, which Bookends can't do.
