Full name for editor field

I have been trying to find a way of differentiating how names are dealt with.
My issue is that I sometimes need a name as surname and initials, and sometimes as full name. For example, if a report is written by an author I need surname/initials, but if a report is authored by an organisation I need full name. I thought I might solve this problem by using the 'authors' field for personal authors and the 'editors' field for organisations, and then changing the 'others like' to 'editors' and 'full name' in the field below. But this changes it for both author and editor.
Ideally a newspaper article written by Rod Liddle (entered in the 'author' field) would be 'Liddle, R', and an article written by Associated Press (entered in the 'editors' field) would remain 'Associated Press', not 'A Press'.
Any ideas?
Many thanks,
Louise
