Indented book chapters

I really like the feature in Bookends that allows you to replicate a book reference as book chapter, as well as later being able to see all chapters of the book with the "Show with Chapter" function. I was just wondering if there's a better way to organise book chapters? Perhaps by having the option to indent the book chapters in some way to the book in the list view? I know this could easily complicate the UI, and there's perhaps a better way of doing this, but having a constant overview of books and chapters would be nice.

If the special view was *only* used when you use "show with chapters", it's possible there could be different handling of the book and book chapters in the display. Indenting would be one. Always listing the book at the top, or in a bold font, might be others. What do others think? Is it worth the effort? And if so, would having a special display, which would resort to the normal list view as soon as the list refreshed, just for this one menu item mess too much with the UI and be confusing?

Sounds nice, but I am not sure if I understood your proposition correctly. Would that mean that we would view only the one volume with all its chapters or all entries ordered in a way where chapters are shown as belonging to a group?

If the latter is possible then implementing such a feature would maybe open the door to other, similar features, such as having a grouped view of all entries in the main list windows, for example according to type (journal entries (and journal entries grouped by journal), book, chapter, etc.). Just a thought though, I don’t know how useful this would be.

As for the way to show it, indented or visually offset by more than just font size seems to be the nicer option.

I think it would be great to do both, indent and use a smaller font. Perhaps the main reference (i.e. the edited book) could have a disclosure triangle or something similar to toggle the view of chapters on and off.

For the moment, in any case, we're just discussing what would show if you selected a book and then used Show With Chapters. Whatever the view, it would disappear when the list was refreshed (i.e. you did a search, clicked on a group, etc.). No need for disclosure triangles or changes in font size I think.

If we were to think about ways of grouping references as part of the regular display it would be more complicated of course, and perhaps require something different.
