Document trucated

I dont know if anyone has this problem.. after formatting or unformatting a document, at times I can see only 4-5 pages of a 20 page document, the rest of pages just disappear... which as you might imagine is unnerving. It always cuts the document at a citation insertion... after replacing or deleting the 'offending' citation it works fine.. I dont know what makes a citation offending and why it does not show the whole document... I will appreciate feed back.
