Exporting basics

I've searched on this one and haven't found a good answers, so...

I need to export all my references (from BE 10.6.4), so I can import them into endnote web to share with a colleague.

The xml format file is not recongized by endote web (and endnote web's own instructions for importing is based on using a .txt file).

So I've tried exporting in tab-deliminated text, and here is the even more frustrating thing: when I go to open those files, I get an error message saying that the item is used by Mac OSX and cannot be opened.

Endnote web cannot import it either, even when selecting the option for tab-deliminated text

The tab-delimited file is for Bookends -> Excel/FileMaker/etc -> Bookends. It's not useful for export to other ref managers.

I believe EndNote Web imports RIS files, and you can export from Bookends in RIS format (as plain text)

RIS - yes Endnote web can import RIS...so looking at the export menu options, which are RIS (plain text) and if there are more than one, what are the differences?

Thanks much...

Open Biblio -> Formats Manager and make sure RIS is checked.

Then Biblio -> Bibliography Formatter. Send the marked references in RIS format as Plain Text To Disk. You could do the same thing with File -> Export References (Hits) -> bibliography format (which gets you to the Bibliography Formatter dialog).

That should do it.
