Customise the generated bibliography list

Post by nanoboy »

I've tried searching the forum but my search terms were too common to be accepted.

Also looked everywhere in Bookends and couldn't find a way to do this, although I'm 50% sure I've done this before but can't remember how... I've probably done it manually.

The generated list looks something like this:

1. A. A. Manshina et al., “Effect of salt precursor on laser-assisted copper deposition,” Applied Physics A: Materials Science & Processing, 89, pp. 755-759, 2007.
2. K. Kordas et al., “Laser-assisted metal deposition from liquid-phase precursors on polymers,” Applied Surface Science, 172, pp. 178-189, 2001.

I want it to be the following:

[1] A. A. Manshina et al., “Effect of salt precursor on laser-assisted copper deposition,” Applied Physics A:
Materials Science & Processing, 89, pp. 755-759, 2007.
[2] K. Kordas et al., “Laser-assisted metal deposition from liquid-phase precursors on polymers,” Applied
Surface Science, 172, pp. 178-189, 2001.

In other words, the numbering with a bracket [], and also an indent between [1] and the start of the citation, also the second line to have the same indent as the first line after the number.

Is it possible?

P.S. The webform deleted my extra spacing / indent I wanted to demonstrate in my example above after clicking submit.

Yes, you can do all that. Please look in the User Guide (Help menu) for the section on creating and editing formats.

Open the format you want to edit or create. In the Bibliography Options tab place the left and right square bracket around the # (under Number References).

Begin the format definition with a tab, the metacharacter for that is ∆ (Option-J on a US keyboard).

Check Hanging indent.

That should do it.

Use the new Biblio -> Create Format Catalog feature to see all the existing formats so you can create a new one based on one that's already close to what you want.
