I've read the relevant parts of the manual but I still can't work out how to import reference information from an article in JSTOR. All I want to do is import the info so it appears as new reference or set of references in my database.

I go to 'export citation' in JSTOR. Which option do I chose? What then? Is this even right?

I've tried search JSTOR with Online Search but it comes back 'There are no matches' for every search term I enter.

Apologies if this is the most banal of questions, but I'm sick to death of not being able to use this software's functionality.

Pretty much any output option is going to be RIS, which Bookends can import. Refman (or Reference Manager) will always get you RIS output.

This means either that (1) you're not using the latest version of Bookends, or (2) you don't have ip authentication. In the latter case, if you have username/password access, you can still search JSTOR using Bookends browser, and import the references and pdfs from that.
