Here's the scenario:

In the current chapter I'm writing, I have two sources by the same author. One is a journal article and the other is a book. I've confirmed that I have them categorized correctly.

When I went to cite the book a second time (using a Turabian footnote), Bookends correctly offers a shortened abbreviation of author's last name and title of the book. However, the book title is incorrectly placed in quotation marks (which should be used with journal articles) instead of italics (which should be used for book titles).

I'm certain there's an easy way to fix this, but I couldn't find it. Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

Open Turabian Footnotes, go to the Book Type, and replace (in the secondary order field)

a, “s”.

with

a, s. -- and italicize the s

Question, if I'm using Turabian, and I go to scan a document, should I set the dialogue box to scan with the format of Turabian or Turabian footnotes. What's the difference between the two options?

Always (I think) use the base format. The “Blabla footnotes” variants are a kind of subformat that the main format uses to generate more complicate citation output. (That is in these cases the base format creates the bibliography, while the subformat is called by the base format to create the in-text citations / footnotes.)

You don’t need to have these subformats checked btw, so you can de-clutter your format list if you are so inclined
