Integration with Mendeley?

Hi,
I have recently started using Mendeley and I was wondering if there is an easy(ish) way of getting it to work nicely with Bookends? In particular, I'm having the following problems:
1. Importing a Bookends Endnote XML export file works nicely - EXCEPT that none of the journal information is being imported into Mendeley.
2. Any easy(ish) ways of getting PDF files from Bookends to Mendeley (online)?
I would love to see the two programs play together nicely - a little like a cloud-based option to Bookends!

Hi,
Those are both really Mendeley issues (not importing the XML correctly, and not picking up the pdfs, the pathnames of which are included in the XML export). I'd be happy to work with them to fix those things if they want to do that. You can send them a request, and if they're interested they can contact us.

I thought so much..... I have been trying to modify the XML export to more closely match what Mendeley expects, but still no dice.
I have contacted their development team - let's see what happens.

OK, let's see what they say. Note that Bookends exports according to the EndNote XML schema, which in addition to us is used by EndNote, Papers, Zotero, refbase, and many others. It's up to the Mendeley to import it properly.

I'm having the same issue exporting from BE and importing into Papers2; the journal title is not coming across. Opening up the XML, I notice that the journal's name is inbetween the following tags:
<secondary-title> ... </secondary-title>
instead of the following, which does allow for correct import into Papers:
<periodical><full-title> ... </full-title></periodical>.
Thus, if one opens up the XML file in a text editor and does a search and replace for the opening and closing tags, it should import fine...though perhaps Jon could comment on whether the <secondary-title> information is going to be a problem if replaced or otherwise lost.
Perhaps the <periodical> tag is new?

If you're careful about editing the XML file (keeping corresponding open and closing tags correct) you should be OK. Note that Papers doesn't handle EndNote XML properly (proper being defined as the way EndNote exports/imports the data). I believe Mekentosj is aware of this, and has told another Bookends user they'll get to it once Papers2 is out.
