Reference type for blog comments?

Post by laura »

Hello Bookenders. I'm a newbie trying to figure out how to cite blog comments using Chicago style. According to the Chicago website, the formats are:

Footnote:
Jack, February 25, 2010 (7:03 p.m.), comment on Richard Posner, “Double Exports in Five Years?,” The Becker-Posner Blog, February 21, 2010, http://uchicagolaw.typepad.com/beckerpo ... osner.html.

Bibliography:
Jack, comment on Posner, “Double Exports.” Becker-Posner Blog, The. http://uchicagolaw.typepad.com/beckerposner/.

I haven't found anything about this on the forums and am trying to teach myself how to set this up using the tutorial and user guide, but in the mean time, has anyone already done this? I'd love some advice -- it seems like these days I'm spending more time learning software (Mellel and Bookends) than actually writing my dissertation and, no, not because I'm trying to procrastinate ;)

Hi, what your showing as examples is different from the Internet citation Type in Bookends. You can create your own Type (e.g. Blog) and enter what you want output in the order field (in Chicago for the bibliography, the other in Chicago footnotes for the footnotes). Are you asking how to create a format? Have you looked in the User Guide (Help menu) yet? If not, that's where to go for this information. You can ask here if you have specific questions, or contact me at support@sonnysoftware.com.
