Logic of display of "Select Duplicates to Delete"?

Never understood this. Think I should be able to figure this out myself, but have not.
In the upper panel, suppose there are two Refs listed. Which is first and which is second?
Not the Ref #, not whether it's checked for deletion, not whether it's on the right or left in the lower panel... Hmm.
In the lower panel, which of the two are shown on the right vs the left?
Not marked for deletion, not having more stuff in a field... ???
I read in the manual about the criteria for deletion. They make sense. Would you consider adding "Contained in Groups"? For two otherwise identical references, I want to keep one that is contained in one or more groups, not one that is not contained in any groups.
Thanks very much.
(I just finished writing an article for Annu Rev Biochem, and I can't begin to calculate how much time I saved, using many of the features in Bookends. I admit I come from the dinosaur age of the 3x5 card file system.)
