References for multivolume works using Chicago A

Post by Spinozist »

Hi All,

Does anyone know how to enter multivolume works so that they show up in Chicago A looking like this:

Bibliography:

Author's Surname, Author's Given Name. Volume Title.. Edited by Editor's Name. Vol. #, Multivolume Title, edited by Multivolume Editors. Place of Publication: Publisher, Year.

Thanks,

You’ll have to create a new format to do this and you’ll have to decide into which field you want to put the multivolume editors, as there is no default field for them.

Best would be to look for a format that is close to what you want and then take that format and then either create a new type for multivolume works, or to use conditional groups (i.e. those who are put into curly { } brackets) for the existing type Edited Volume and add the respective fields that you need. This will take a close look at the User Guide and some experimentation, but it is certainly possible.

If you stumble into more particular problems, just post what you have entered into the Format Manager and then we can help you starting there… :)
